Storing peptides: the cold-chain rules that matter

Why temperature is the quiet variable that decides whether your peptide still works — and how to handle travel.

A peptide is only as good as its handling. Heat and time degrade these molecules, so storage isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of the dose. The good news: the rules are simple.

The basics

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide is stable and tolerant before mixing. Once reconstituted, it lives in the fridge at 36–46ºF and is good for a defined window — often around 28 days depending on the compound. Don’t freeze a reconstituted vial; ice crystals damage the peptide.

  • Reconstituted vial → fridge, 36–46ºF.
  • Never freeze after mixing
  • Keep it out of the fridge door if the door runs warm

Travel without ruining it

An insulated bag plus one frozen gel pack holds temperature for the few hours a flight or commute takes — keep the vial from touching the ice directly (a sock works). Hotel mini-fridges are usually fine; if one runs warm, ask the front desk to store it. If a vial sits at room temperature longer than its tolerance window, ask your pharmacy for a replacement rather than guessing.
