Drug Interaction
An effect of one medication on the metabolism, absorption or action of another — why your clinician reviews your full medication list.
Definition
Drug interactions can alter the absorption, distribution, metabolism or excretion of either agent, or modify pharmacodynamic effects at shared targets. Peptides have relatively few clinically significant drug interactions compared to small-molecule drugs, but combined hormone therapies, anticoagulants and immunosuppressants all warrant dedicated review. Always share your full medication list — including supplements — with your clinician.
