Follistatin
Also known as Follistatin 344 · FST
A naturally occurring protein that binds and inhibits myostatin — theoretically permitting greater muscle hypertrophy.
Definition
Follistatin is a glycoprotein that inhibits myostatin and other TGF-β-family growth factors. Myostatin limits muscle growth; removing its brake allows greater hypertrophy, as seen in rare myostatin-null phenotypes in both animals and humans. Synthetic follistatin analogs have been studied for muscular dystrophy but are not routinely used in wellness-oriented peptide protocols.
How Meto uses it.
Not part of Meto's catalogue. The long-term safety of chronic myostatin inhibition in otherwise-healthy adults is not well-characterised; for muscle-mass goals we recommend P2 (sermorelin) with resistance training rather than myostatin-targeted peptides.
Safety notes
- Long-term safety data lacking outside rare-disease indications
- Theoretical concerns about tendon stress from rapid muscle growth
- Prohibited under WADA rules
