Definition

Half-life is the time it takes for the body to eliminate half of a given dose. It depends on absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion. Peptides vary widely: native GHRH has a half-life of ~7 minutes; modified CJC-1295 (no-DAC) is ~30 minutes; semaglutide and tirzepatide sit at around 7 days, enabling weekly dosing. Half-life dictates not just dose frequency but how the drug 'feels' — shorter half-lives produce sharper peaks; longer, smoother coverage.
