Injection Site Rotation

The practice of varying subcutaneous injection location across sessions to prevent lipoatrophy and injection-site reactions.

Definition

Injection site rotation means systematically varying where each dose is placed — alternating sides of the abdomen, thigh and sometimes deltoid across sessions. This prevents localised fat-tissue changes (lipoatrophy or lipohypertrophy) and reduces the injection-site redness sometimes seen with repeated same-site dosing. Meto's protocol cards include a rotation template.
