Lyophilisation

Also known as Freeze-Drying · Lyo

The freeze-drying process used to stabilise peptides for shipping — the vial you reconstitute with bacteriostatic water on arrival.

Definition

Lyophilisation freezes an aqueous peptide solution and removes the water through sublimation, leaving a dry, stable powder ('lyo cake'). This extends shelf-life and enables cold-chain shipping without liquid-stability concerns. The member reconstitutes the vial at home with bacteriostatic water before the first injection; reconstituted vials are then refrigerated and typically used within four to six weeks.
