Definition
Melanotan II is a synthetic α-MSH analog that activates multiple melanocortin receptors, producing increased melanin synthesis and — via MC4R — sexual-arousal effects. Widely marketed in the unregulated peptide space for tanning and libido. Its safety profile in unregulated use is poor, with reports of mole darkening, melanoma cases, nausea and cardiovascular effects.
