Definition
SS-31 (elamipretide) is a four-amino-acid peptide that selectively localises to the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it binds cardiolipin and protects the electron transport chain.

Studied in heart failure, Barth syndrome, age-related macular degeneration and chronic kidney disease. Not currently part of the Meto catalogue — SS-31 is investigational and clinical access outside trial enrolment is limited.
