Mechanism

β3-Adrenoceptor

Also known as Beta-3 Adrenergic Receptor · ADRB3

A receptor on fat cells whose activation triggers lipolysis — the target of peptides like AOD-9604.

Definition

The β3-adrenoceptor is a G-protein-coupled receptor expressed mainly on adipocytes. Activation increases intracellular cyclic AMP, which triggers hormone-sensitive lipase and drives the breakdown of stored triglycerides into free fatty acids. This receptor is the primary molecular target of AOD-9604 and several investigational metabolic therapies.
